Greta,
Hi! Yes, I think they are ok when healty choices are made. We have heard of cookie diets where weightloss success is attributed to eating only cookies. As appealing as that sounds to some, there isn't much health in eating cookies only.
I do think that weight loss programs are as individual as fingerprints. We all have to chose what works best for our bodies. I also think that low carb diets get a bad rap or are misunderstood. I know what you mean about being over 50, I am 52 and my body is very different today today than when I was 20.

What I think is this, and agree with you that health is the first concern. Honestly, I think programs like Atkins are a bit extreme. I think a less extreme carb restricted diet such as South Beach is one that can be a healthy alternative and one that keeps people from becoming bored with thier food choices. We all know what happens when we get bored of what we are eating, we fall back into unhealthy eating habits and the gain/lose cycle begins.

On a personal note, I am a bit partial as you know to the Weight Watchers program and Weight Watchers Core program is a healthy alternative to low carb and healthy nutrition.

A great resource for low carb facts is http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/nutrition/a/highnutrition.htm This is a good resource for foods, tips, healthy guidelines especailly getting started and low carb myths and truths.

Thank you for your question and I hope I helped. Stay in touch and please let me know of your choice and of course of your success.

Thank you,
Mary Ann

Do you think low carb diets are OK? It is the only way I have ever lost weight but I'm concerned about the health risks now that I'm over 50.

Hi Joan!
Thank you. I am bound and determined, to reach my goal. I have a trip to Vegas coming up in April and I already bought an absolutely gorgeous dress that I can not wait to wear.

30 pounds in 30 days is an amazing accomplishment, and I do hope that you maintained good nutrition while doing so.

I hope to hear more from you and your accomplishments as I look forward to sharing mine. I know what you mean about wanting to tell everyone.

Talk to you soon,
Mary Ann

Hey,
Nice blog, I just stumbled on it and I'm already a fan
I recently lost 30 pounds in 30 days, and I want to discuss my weight loss success
with as many people as possible. I described my experience
on my blog, and I welcome your suggestions!

If I can lose that much weight then anyone else can too. Whatever you do, don't give up and you WILL
meet all your weight loss goals!
with kind regards,
Joan
